It looks like more features in the Apple Health app for iOS 8 have been enabled with the release of iOS 8 Beta 3, the health app will now track steps using Apple’s M7 motion processor.
The Apple M7 motion processor is included in devices like the iPhone 5S, so devices running this new beta of iOS 8 can now use this feature in the Apple Health app.
Another new feature that has been added to the Apple Health app is the ability to track your caffeine intake. The steps section of the app will show the total steps you have taken over the last 7 days.
We can expect more changes to the health app before iOS 8 is released, at the moment, the apps functions are limited, but we are expecting to see a full fledged health and fitness tracking app with the release of iOS 8.
Apple have yet to give an exact date on when iOS 8 will be released, we are expecting it to land in September, the iPhone 6 is rumored to launch on the 19th of September, so we can expect it to be released to existing devices a few days before the iPhone 6 launch.
We are also expecting Apple to release the new Apple iWatch at the same time, and fitness and health tracking is said to play a large part in this device, and we can expect the same features to be available on the device as in the iOS 8 health app.
