A new Android Amplify Tablet has been unveiled today which has been created by Amplify Education, specifically for the education market and particularly K12 education.
The Amplify Tablet is fitted with a 10 inch screen and comes supplied running a customised version of Google’s Android operating system.
There are two versions available, a Wi-Fi equipped Amplify Tablet priced at $299, when you take out a two-year subscription to Amplify’s services for $99 a year.
Together with the Amplify Tablet Plus, which includes a 4G data plan, and is priced at $349 when purchased with a 2 year subscription at $179 per year for the 4G connectivity. In todays press release Amplify CEO Joel Klein explained:
“We want to transform the way teachers teach and students learn,”-“Technology has revolutionized the world, but not the classroom. Our hope is that this tablet will help change that.”
With Stephen Smyth, President of Amplify’s Access division adding:
“This is more than just a tablet. It’s a complete learning solution organized around the school day,”-“We believe it’s both more affordable and more impactful than just about any other product in the education technology market.”
“The Amplify Tablet and related services are being piloted this year in school districts across the country in collaboration with AT&T. Tablets purchased by June 30th will be ready for use in classrooms in time for the start of the 20132014 school year.”
