Amazon has announced that it will setup a new registered apprencticeship program in the US and it will train veterans for technical jobs.
The shopping giant will aim to hire more than 25,000 veterans over the next five years and plans to train more than 10,000 of these in cloud computing skills.
“We are pleased that Amazon is joining the remarkable group of forward-looking organizations that are pursuing innovations in apprenticeship for the 21st century,” Deputy Secretary Lu said. “Partnerships like this one have reinvigorated our nation’s apprenticeship system, creating opportunity and pathways to prosperity for hundreds of thousands of Americans that will last for years to come.”
Amazon is one of the first major technology companies to join the program, another is Tesla Motors which also offers registered apprenticeships.
