The Amazon Smartphone looks like it is about to finally be announced, as Amazon has a announced that it is holding a launch event on the 18th of June.
The company also posted a teaser video with people looking at a new mystery device, which we suspect is the new Amazon Smartphone, have a look at the video below.
The new Amazon Smartphone is said to run the company’s Fire OS, this is based on Google’s Android OS and it is currently available on Amazon’s range of Kindle tablets.
The handset is rumored to come with a 4.7 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the device is also expected to use a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and come with 2GB of RAM. We have heard various rumors that HTC are making the handset for Amazon.
The photo below was posted online by the BGR a while back, and this is apparently a press render of this new smartphone from Amazon.
The handset is also said to come with some sort of 3D effect on the display, and it will use multiple front facing cameras to produce these 3D effects.
We are really interested to see what Amazon’s first smartphone will be like, it could end up being a very popular device for the company like their Kindle Fire tablets.
