Amazon has today entered the mobile credit card payment market offering its new Amazon Local Register service and mobile dongle to small businesses in direct competition with the likes of Square and Paypal.
Amazon Local Register enables users to accept payments from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit and debit cards directly on their mobile phone or tablet devices.
The new Amazon mobile credit card payment dongle supports iOS, Android and of course Amazon Fire OS devices, and can be seen in action in the brief promotional video created by Amazon below.
The Amazon Register companion app also offers the ability to save items, add discounts, and track cash transactions, as well as offering in-app reporting as well answer key questions about your business.
Amazon is also offering a special limited time offer for new customers charging 1.75% per swipe through December 31, 2015 when you sign up by October 31, 2014. Pay 2.5% beginning January 1, 2016 with no hidden fees, says Amazon.
