Amazon recently launched their first smartphone, the Amazon Fire Phone, and now it looks like the company has further plans to expand its devices range, possibly with a Google Glass competitor.
According to Engadget, Amazon has hired the former head of Google Glass, Babak Parvis, who was one of the original members of Project X labs at Google who were responsible for Glass, and he was also the first head of the Google Glass team.
Before joining Google Babak Parvis was a researcher at the University of Washington, whilst there he develop the first contract lens with integrated circuits, he also worked previously at Microsoft.
There are no details as yet on exactly what Babak Parvis will be doing at Amazon, although we wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon plans to launch their own wearable gadget in the future, and could be working on a Google Glass competitor.
As soon as we get some more information on exactly what Amazon has planned, and whether the company intends to take on Google Glass, we will let you guys know, we wonder what they will call the device?
