If you missed out on the crowd funding campaign and have been waiting for the AllPixel LED controller and AllPixel Power Tap Kit to become available, Maniacal Labs has today announced that they are now available to purchase from their Seeed Store.
The AllPixel is a small board measuring 2.7 x 0.9 inches in size that has been designed to provide an easy way or controlling LED lights in different configurations and can accept 5-12v @ up to 5A via DC power jack.
Its compatible will all the popular LED strip chipsets, including: LPD8806, WS2801, WS2811/WS2812 (NeoPixel), WS2811 400kHz, APA102 (DotStar), TM1809, TM1803, TM1804, UCS1903, P9813, SM16716, LPD1886. Maniacal Labs explain :
“The AllPixel provides easy USB control of all the major programmable LED strips (not included). It is compatible with Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms, and capable of driving up to 700 LEDs at high frame rates. Very basic soldering skills needed to install the optional components.”
“The PowerTap is tiny (less than 1” square) accessory board for simplifying the hookup of power on long runs of LEDs. Due to voltage drops over long strips, it is recommended to inject power every 5m or 5A, whichever comes first. With the PowerTap, you can build in a quick connect/disconnect power port in between your sections of LEDs. Very basic soldering skills required to assemble the board.”
