HMD Global and Nokia announced a number of new handsets at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, but details about its global availability were scarce, including the countries where it will launch.
Previously, Nokia mentioned that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will launch in other global markets by the end of Q2. Nokia Mobile said on Twitter that all the smartphones will be available globally by the end of June.
Some of the markets already have the new Nokia handsets in retail stores, but this is definitely good news for customers who are eagerly waiting for the Finnish company to make a comeback in the smartphone market once again and capture its long-lost glory.
“We plan to release our upcoming Smartphones worldwide before the end of Q2 2017. (June) Stay tuned for updates,” Nokia Mobile said on Twitter.
The Anticipation and Market Demand
The question now isn’t when the handset is launched, but how much inventory is allotted to various retailers across the globe, and whether it will get the same demand it once had. Nokia’s return to the smartphone market has been met with significant anticipation, especially from long-time fans of the brand. The Nokia 6, in particular, has garnered attention for its robust build quality and competitive pricing.
In markets like India and China, where Nokia once held a dominant position, the re-entry of these handsets could potentially disrupt the current market dynamics. The mid-range segment, which is highly competitive with brands like Xiaomi, Samsung, and Motorola, will see a new contender in Nokia. The success of these handsets will largely depend on how well they are received in these key markets.
Features and Specifications
The Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 come with a range of features that cater to different segments of the market. The Nokia 3 is the entry-level model, featuring a 5-inch display, 2GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear camera. It is designed for users who need a reliable smartphone for basic tasks without breaking the bank.
The Nokia 5 steps up the game with a 5.2-inch display, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear camera. It offers a more refined design and better performance, making it suitable for users who need a bit more from their device.
The Nokia 6 is the flagship model among the three, boasting a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM, and a 16MP rear camera. It also features a fingerprint sensor and a more premium build quality, making it an attractive option for users looking for a high-quality smartphone at a mid-range price.
Global Rollout and Pricing
As Nokia prepares for the global rollout of these handsets, one of the critical factors will be pricing. Competitive pricing will be essential to attract customers in various markets. For instance, in Europe, the Nokia 6 is expected to be priced around €229, while in India, it could be priced around ₹15,000. These price points make the Nokia handsets competitive against other brands in the same segment.
We’ll update you as soon as we get any other information about its launch and local pricing for various markets. The global rollout of Nokia’s new smartphones marks a significant milestone for the company as it aims to reclaim its position in the highly competitive smartphone market.
