Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset

As expected a variety of new Windows Mixed Reality Headsets have been made available today including the hardware created by Acer which is now available to preorder price to $399, providing access to both the Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset and Motion Controllers.

Mixed reality headsets allow you to enjoy both augmented and virtual reality content and the latest selection of headsets include precise tracking built into the headset requiring no installation of sensor hardware on your walls.

Acer explains a little more about their new mixed reality headset which is now available to preorder directly from the official Microsoft online store.

With Windows Mixed Reality, you can escape the everyday into a world of imagination. Personalize your virtual home with great content—travel, sports, culture, live concerts, games like Minecraft, and more. Surround yourself with apps from 20K available titles: Run movies in your virtual theater, open a browser on a second screen. It’s your own multiplex of multiple apps and you’re at the center of every adventure.

Inside-out tracking is built into your headset to deliver precise movement fidelity with no need to install hardware on your walls. Spatial audio lets you hear sounds from specific locations just like in the real world, and your advanced motion controller makes it easy to move through virtual spaces. The combined effect is a sensation where your virtual and physical worlds are in perfect sync.

Specifications of the Acer headset:

  • Two high-resolution liquid crystal displays at 1440 x 1440
  • 2.89” diagonal display size (x2)
  • Front hinged display, so you can flip the headset up while working
  • Up to 105 degrees horizontal field of view
  • Display refresh rate up to 90 Hz (native)
  • Built-in audio out and microphone support through 3.5mm jack
  • Single cable with HDMI 2.0 (display) and USB 3.0 (data) for connectivity
  • Inside-out tracking
  • 4.00m cable
