We have already seen a couple of videos showing off how the new Apple Spaceship Campus is progressing, and now we have another video from Myithz.
The latest video was shot using a DJ1 Phantom 2 drone, and it gives us an idea of how the building work is coming on. You can see the previous video here, which was taken back in October.
Construction Progress and Features
The Apple Spaceship campus is expected to be completed by 2016. The massive campus will be home to around 12,000 Apple employees, and the main building, which is shown in the video, will measure 2.8 million square feet. This futuristic structure, often referred to as the “Spaceship” due to its circular design, is set to become an iconic landmark in Cupertino, California.
Under the main building, there will also be a parking garage that will be able to hold 2,400 cars. This underground parking facility is designed to minimize the visual impact of vehicles on the campus, maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the landscape. Apple is also building other offices around the campus, including an R&D center. This center will be a hub for innovation, where Apple’s engineers and designers will work on the next generation of Apple products.
Environmental Considerations and Sustainability
One of the standout features of the Apple Spaceship campus is its commitment to sustainability. The building is designed to be one of the most energy-efficient in the world. It will be powered by 100% renewable energy, including on-site solar panels and fuel cells. The roof of the main building will be covered with solar panels, generating a significant portion of the campus’s energy needs.
The campus will also feature extensive green spaces, with over 7,000 trees being planted on the site. These trees will include a variety of native species, contributing to the local ecosystem and providing a pleasant environment for employees. The landscaping will also include walking and cycling paths, encouraging employees to stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
In addition to the green spaces, the campus will have a state-of-the-art fitness center, offering a range of facilities to promote employee well-being. There will also be a large auditorium, known as the Steve Jobs Theater, where Apple will host product launches and other significant events.
The design of the campus also emphasizes natural ventilation and lighting. The building will use a unique system of natural airflow to reduce the need for air conditioning, and large glass panels will allow natural light to flood the interior spaces, reducing the reliance on artificial lighting.
