We have been hearing rumors for a while that Google would launch an even cheaper version of their Google Nexus 7 tablet which is rumored to retail for just $99, although these rumors died off when the new updated Nexus 7 tablets were introduced recently.
Now it would appear that Google may have a $99 Nexus 7 tablet in the works, as a new, yet to be announced Nexus 7 tablet has appeared in the GLbench benchmarks, and the device features Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
This new Nexus tablet features the model name of ASUS ME172V, and the specifications are different than the current entry level Google Nexus 7 tablet, which include a 1GHz processor and 400MHz Mali GPU, the device also features a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
What is interesting is that the tablet features a microSD card slot, so it could be a device that is released by Asus, as the Google Nexus 7 tablets don’t have a microSD card slot, or maybe Google are introducing their $99 tablet with minimal storage include, and the microSD card slot to keep the costs of the device down.
As soon as we get some more information on this yet to be announced Nexus 7 tablet, including full specifications and also some details on when it will be available we will let you guys know.
