The TMS RamSan-70 “Gorilla” SSD is equipped with 900GB of high-speed SLC NAND flash onto a single half-length PCIe card, and is the is the first product powered by Texas Memory Systems’ new Series-7 Flash Controller. With sustained I/O rates up to 330,000 IOPS (at 4K block sizes) for reads or 160,000 IOPS for writes, and bandwidth up to 2 GB/second.
The new RamSan-70 SSD is based on high-performance Xilinx FPGAs and a PowerPC processor. The Series-7 Flash Controller handles all Flash management functions without impacting the host CPU.
The 900GB SSD incorporates patented Texas Memory Systems reliability technology, providing an expected lifespan of around 6-10 years. Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as it becomes available we will let you know.
