We know that the design of this years iPhone X handsets will be similar to the existing device. This will include the notch at the top of the display. Now according to a recent report, Apple will ditch the notch on next years iPhones.
We saw a number of Android manufacturers introduce a notch on their handsets at Mobile World Congress last month, if the latest rumors are correct, Apple are looking to get rid of the notch in 2019.
Apple is apparently working on a new OLED display for their 2019 iPhone X, that would get rid of the notch at the top of the handset completely. This could be correct as Apple is expected to update their iPhone design in 2019.
There are rumored to be three new iPhones coming this year, two OLED handsets one with a 5.8 inch display and one with a 6.5 inch display. There will also be a cheaper iPhone with a 6.1 inch LCD display.
Apple are expected to launch their three new iPhones some time in September or October, along with their new iOS 12 OS.
If Apple does ditch the notch on their 2019 iPhones, then we can expect the Android manufacturers who have introduced it on their handsets this year to do the same thing.
