Last week we heard from Apple’s CEO Tim Cook that Apple would be launching the WiFi and Cellular versions of the iPad Mini and iPad 4 in China some time this month, and now Apple has announced an official launch date.
The WiFi and Cellular versions of Apple’s iPad Mini and fourth generation iPad will launch in China this Friday the 15th of January, and the devices will be available through Apple retail stores and also the online Apple store.

Apple today announced the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of iPad® mini and the new fourth generation iPad with Retina® display will be available in China on Friday, January 18. iPad mini and the fourth generation iPad are currently available in more than 100 countries worldwide including the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan and the UK.
Apple’s Expansion in China
China is expected to be one of Apple’s largest markets over the next few years, and Apple recently announced that they have plans to open more than 25 retail stores in the country. This expansion is part of Apple’s broader strategy to increase its footprint in the rapidly growing Chinese market. The Chinese consumer base has shown a strong appetite for Apple’s products, and the company is keen to capitalize on this demand. By increasing the number of retail stores, Apple aims to provide better customer service and enhance the overall shopping experience for Chinese consumers.
Moreover, Apple’s focus on China is not just limited to retail expansion. The company has also been working on improving its supply chain and manufacturing processes within the country. This includes partnerships with local suppliers and investments in technology and infrastructure to ensure that they can meet the growing demand for their products.
Product Features and Market Impact
The iPad Mini and the fourth generation iPad come with several features that are likely to appeal to Chinese consumers. The iPad Mini, with its 7.9-inch display, offers a compact and portable option for users who want the functionality of an iPad in a smaller form factor. It is perfect for reading, browsing the web, and using apps on the go. The fourth generation iPad, on the other hand, boasts a larger 9.7-inch Retina display, providing a more immersive experience for activities such as watching videos, playing games, and using productivity apps.
Both devices come with WiFi and Cellular capabilities, allowing users to stay connected wherever they are. This is particularly important in a country like China, where mobile internet usage is extremely high. The availability of these devices in both WiFi and Cellular versions ensures that users can choose the option that best suits their needs.
The launch of these devices in China is expected to have a significant impact on the market. With the increasing popularity of tablets, the iPad Mini and fourth generation iPad are likely to attract a large number of buyers. This could potentially boost Apple’s market share in the country and strengthen its position as a leading tech company.
