Twitter has today announced that it has acquired the SnappyTV platform which was created for users to clip, edit and distribute live video to share on Twitter, both organically and via Twitter Amplify.
Unfortunately no details have been released as to how much Twitter paid to purchase the SnappyTV platform, but Twitter is now looking to provide more tools using SnappTV to its user base to make it easy for TV broadcasters, businesses and Twitter users to share high-quality videos through the messaging system.
Twitter explains : “While we continue to invest in SnappyTV’s product and integrate it more tightly with Twitter, we also plan to maintain our partners’ ability to post high-quality videos to other platforms. Our goal is to help publishers quickly share great moments from events so people can experience those moments as they happen.
We’re thrilled to welcome the SnappyTV team to Twitter. As Twitter has grown as the companion to live events and broadcast media, SnappyTV will help partners and brands bring the best videos into the conversation, when it matters most.”
SnappyTV explains on their website :
“With Twitter we will continue our commitment to maintaining an open platform for social broadcasting of live events, across a variety of digital platforms. Joining Twitter will allow us to provide an even better product and bring the platform to more content owners and event organizers throughout the world. We will be able to further our goal of empowering people to share the world’s best moments.”
