The $3,000 Steampunk USB Flash Drive
We absolutely love anything to do with Steampunk here on Geeky Gadgets, and when I spotted this cool handmade Steampunk USB drive I thought it looked very cool until I noticed the price.
Most of the stuff that appears on Etsy seems to be reasonably priced, unfortunately this isn’t one of those items, as you will have to part with $3,000 to get your hands on it.

For that price I would expect it to be made from a precious metal, sadly it is made from brass and copper, and whilst we think it looks really cool, I am still unsure why it is being sold for $3,000, unless it was a typo and it should be $300.
If you have a lot of spare cash, and fancy a unique USB drive, then head on over to WillRockwell’s shop over at Etsy.
Update 26th August 2009.
We just had a message from Will, who made this cool Steampunk USB drive and the price is correct $3,000.

Thanks for featuring my “Pocket Memory” drive. The premise here was, if Captain Nemo had a USB drive in his pocket, what would it look like?
Nope, the price not a typo, $3,000 is simply what it would take to pry the drive out of my hands. I’m sure if it were priced at $300 it would disappear quickly, but so would the $300. No, I respect the art too much to undervalue it and besides, this is the only one of these in the world, so $3,000 for this drive might one day be considered a bargain.
