Today the social networking giant Facebook has announced the acquisition of a new business in the form of the Tel Aviv, Israel-based startup Onavo, whose primary focus has been based around mobile application data compression, collection and analysis.
The new Facebook acquisition will include both the companies development team and the Onavo technology and their Tel Aviv headquarters will be transformed into the first Israeli Facebook office. However exact terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
The Onavo company was first founded back in 2010 and its areas of expertise include mobile app analytics and measurement providing important data for marketing and research as well as data to the mobile security division. A Facebook spokesperson explained in an interview with the technology website AllThingsD that:
“Onavo will be an exciting addition to Facebook,”-“We expect Onavo’s data compression technology to play a central role in our mission to connect more people to the internet, and their analytic tools will help us provide better, more efficient mobile products.”
At the current time Facebook is planning to keep the brand alive and its mobile applications will be available from both the Android Google Play Store and a bull’s iTunes App Store. However Facebook’s future plans for the company are still unknown at the present time. For more information jump over to the Onavo website.Filed Under: Technology News, Top News
