It looks like US carrier AT&T will start updating its Windows Phone 7 smartphones to the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, from the 27th of September.
At first, the devices that will get the update will be the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and then the Samsung Focus, although some Focus owners may have to wait until October to get the update.

There is also the Dell Venue Pro which is available with AT&T, but there are no details as yet on when the AT&T Dell Venue Pro will get the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update.
Features of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango
Windows Phone 7.5 Mango brings a host of new features and improvements to the platform. One of the most notable additions is the enhanced multitasking capability, allowing users to switch between apps more efficiently. The update also introduces a revamped user interface with live tiles that provide real-time updates directly on the home screen.
Another significant feature is the integration of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn directly into the People Hub. This allows users to see updates and interact with their social networks without needing to open separate apps. Additionally, the update includes an improved web browser with Internet Explorer 9, offering better performance and HTML5 support.
Impact on AT&T Customers
For AT&T customers, the rollout of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is a significant upgrade that enhances the overall user experience. The HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and Samsung Focus are among the first to receive the update, which means users of these devices will soon enjoy the new features and improvements. However, it’s worth noting that some Samsung Focus owners might have to wait until October, possibly due to hardware variations or additional testing requirements.
The Dell Venue Pro, another popular Windows Phone device available through AT&T, has yet to receive a confirmed update schedule. This uncertainty may be frustrating for Dell Venue Pro users who are eager to experience the new features of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. However, it is expected that AT&T will provide more information in the coming weeks.
The update process itself is designed to be straightforward. Users will receive a notification on their device when the update is available, and they can then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. It’s recommended to back up important data before proceeding with the update to avoid any potential data loss.
The rollout of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango by AT&T marks a significant milestone for Windows Phone users. The update brings a wealth of new features and improvements that enhance the overall functionality and user experience of the devices. While some users may have to wait a bit longer, the benefits of the update are well worth the wait.
