Indiegogo backers of the ZX Spectrum Vega Plus project have ready much given up on receiving the portable games console which successfully funded and raised over £500,000 thanks to more than 4700 backers back in March 2016. The project has encountered a wide variety of different problems which I will not cover here but are available to peruse directly from the Indiegogo campaign page and other websites that have covered the progress in more detail. The ZX Spectrum Vega Plus was expected to ship during the summer of 2016 but has missed deadline after deadline for one reason or another.
The good news is the company has started shipping the ill-fated ZX Spectrum Vega Plus portable console to early backers that opted for a “Blankety Blank” version without any games installed. Although first impressions are not great. Check out the quick review embedded below for an overview of the packaging used to transport the $100 games consoles to backers.
After a number of years of waiting Retro Computers eventually confirmed that it had started shipping an initial batch of 400 units to “Blankety Blank” backers on July 26th 2018. “It has been a well documented long and difficult road for the company,” it said, ” Well, we have now proved all negative claims to be false.”
Let’s hope the company can add a little extra packaging to keep the consoles from breaking during transit after this long arduous road is now coming to an end. For more information jump over to the official Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign page by following the link below.
