Slingshot master Joerg Sprave has been at it again this week and created another weird and wacky design, this time in the form of the Zombie Capture Kit.
The Zombie Capture Kit comprises of a slingshot that fires a bola, which is a paracord rope fitted with two heavy steel blocks weighing 3 oz each at either end. Watch the video after the jump to see it in action.

Design and Functionality
Joerg Sprave has created the Zombie Capture Kit with three functions in mind: Collecting zombie specimen for experiments, “Recruiting” Zombies to make Zed Sherpas (Michonne style) or to provide a silent killing method. The bola design is particularly effective because it can entangle the legs or arms of a zombie, rendering it immobile without causing significant damage. This is crucial for those who wish to study zombies or use them for other purposes without destroying them.
The paracord rope used in the bola is known for its strength and durability, making it an ideal choice for capturing zombies. The steel blocks at either end add the necessary weight to ensure the bola can be thrown with enough force to entangle a zombie effectively. This design is not only innovative but also practical for those who find themselves in a zombie apocalypse scenario.
Applications and Real-World Use
The Zombie Capture Kit isn’t just a novelty item; it has real-world applications for those interested in zombie lore and survival tactics. For instance, researchers studying the behavior and biology of zombies could use this kit to capture live specimens without causing harm. This could lead to breakthroughs in understanding the zombie virus and potentially finding a cure.
Additionally, the concept of “Recruiting” Zombies to make Zed Sherpas, inspired by the character Michonne from “The Walking Dead,” is another fascinating application. By capturing zombies and using them as pack animals or even as a form of camouflage, survivors can navigate through zombie-infested areas more safely. This method has been depicted in various forms of media but having a practical tool to achieve it brings a new level of realism to the idea.
The silent killing method is another significant advantage of the Zombie Capture Kit. Traditional weapons like guns and explosives can attract more zombies due to the noise they produce. In contrast, the bola can immobilize or kill a zombie quietly, reducing the risk of attracting additional threats. This makes it an invaluable tool for stealth operations in a zombie apocalypse.
Joerg Sprave’s ingenuity in creating the Zombie Capture Kit showcases his ability to think outside the box and develop practical solutions for hypothetical scenarios. His work continues to inspire and entertain those interested in unconventional weaponry and survival tactics.
