Sony have repeatedly claimed that the PSP Go was a grand experiment, the mistakes of which were never to repeated again. Enter the Xperia Play, or PlayStation Phone as we’ve been calling it before Sony went and developed an allergy to common sense naming schemes, the bread and butter of which will be PS1 classics.
Excellent, a person with a respectable number of already purchased PS1 games might say, elated at the prospect of buying a new handheld with an already established game library.
Funny, that’s just what Sony might have said when seeing the opportunity to fleece you for what must be your third copy of the same PS1 game. And liberals say corporations aren’t people. Sony UK honcho Nathan Vautier says Xperia Play owners “will have to repurchase the games, so it’s not totally integrated.”
“I think the exciting thing is that there are games which people are very, very aware of,” he added. No, Nathan Vaugier, the exciting thing is seeing just how you plan on selling a handheld with fifteen-year old games that most people already own twice and which you expect them to buy again.
