Cervelo has unveiled a new bike that it has created and added to its range in the form of the Cervélo P5, which is currently the world’s most Aerodynamic Triathlon/Time Trials Bike available.
The P5 frameset is Cervélo’s most aerodynamic ever, and will shave ~30-seconds in a 40-kilometer time trial, using its skin surfaces technology which have been tuned for each AeroZone, together with 100% hidden cables to optimize airflow.
Cervélo explains: “The most advanced and the most aerodynamic triathlon and time trial bike ever engineered with an unmatched range of fit, superior hydraulic brakes, and a versatile storage and hydration system.”
Advanced Aerodynamics and Engineering
The Cervélo P5 is not just about shaving seconds off your time; it’s a marvel of modern engineering. The bike’s frame has been meticulously designed to reduce drag, which is a critical factor in high-speed cycling. The skin surfaces technology is a standout feature, as it has been fine-tuned for each AeroZone. This means that every part of the bike, from the front fork to the rear stays, has been optimized to cut through the air as efficiently as possible.
Moreover, the 100% hidden cables are not just a cosmetic feature. By hiding the cables, Cervélo has managed to reduce turbulence around the bike, further enhancing its aerodynamic profile. This attention to detail is what sets the P5 apart from other bikes in its category.
Superior Components and Customization
The Cervélo P5 is equipped with superior hydraulic brakes, which offer better modulation and stopping power compared to traditional mechanical brakes. This is particularly important in time trials and triathlons, where precise braking can make a significant difference. The hydraulic system is also more reliable and requires less maintenance, making it a practical choice for serious athletes.
One of the most impressive aspects of the P5 is its versatility. The bike comes with a range of fit options, allowing riders to customize their setup to achieve the most comfortable and aerodynamic position. This is crucial for long-distance events, where comfort can significantly impact performance.
Additionally, the P5 features a versatile storage and hydration system. This system is designed to be as aerodynamic as the rest of the bike, ensuring that carrying essential items like snacks and hydration does not compromise the bike’s performance. The streamlined snack storage is a unique feature that highlights Cervélo’s commitment to innovation and practicality.
If you are looking to add an edge to your Triathlon events or Time Trials, the Cervélo P5 is now available to purchase for £5,000. For more information, jump over to the Cervélo website for details and full specifications.
