In a strange move, it seems WhatsApp has been unpublished from the Windows Phone Store. When you try to search for the app, users are presented with an error that searched item could not be found.
Even when you visit the app page from your computer, it lists that the app has been unpublished from the store.
It’s a little weird to see the app being removed from the Windows Phone store. The app worked perfectly fine with Windows Phone, but users running the latest Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview ran into some problems since the app wasn’t fully compatible with the latest OS.
The folks at WhatsApp notified WPCEntral that they intentionally took down the app due to some technical issues, and are working on the fixing it. They didn’t mention about the bug, but users who have the app installed can continue to use it. If you don’t you have to wait for the company to submit it again to the app store, which will be done once the issues are resolved.
Unfortunately due to technical issues, we have chosen to un-publish WhatsApp Messenger on the Windows Phone platform. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issues and hope to return to the store shortly. We apologize to our users for the temporary inconvenience.
