Gamers looking for even more immersion into their games might be interested in the new Virtuix Omni gaming treadmill which has just launched on the Kickstarter crowd funding website, and has already blasted past its $150k pledge goal, raising over $480k with still 47 days to go.
The Virtuix Omni has been designed to be used with virtual head gear such as the Oculus Rift and allows gamers to walk, run, jump and crouch in game. Watch the promotional trailer and a demo of it running with Skyrim after the jump to see it in action.
The Virtuix Omni comes supplied with a fully integrated VR interface that includes sophisticated tracking software and hardware that allows you to enjoy games as soon as you unpack it, and Virtuix Omni will support any game or app that uses keyboard input. Its creators Virtuix explain a little more about their design.
“The Omni will free gamers from passive, seated gameplay, unleashing the full potential of virtual reality gaming with the Oculus Rift and future head mounted displays. Gaming on a keyboard, mouse or gamepad while seated pales in comparison to the intense experience and fun that comes from actually running and jumping in games.”
So if you think Virtuix Omni is something you could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge and help Virtuix Omni become a reality.
