Maximilian Wödl and the development team at VERSE have created a new smart mirror which is fully customisable and can be controlled using both voice recognition and gesture controls. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the VERSE Smartmirror which has this week launched via Kickstarter to raise the required funds needed to make the jump into production.
The VERSE smart mirror is now available to back with early bird pledges available from €500 and worldwide shipping expected to take place during April 2019 if the Kickstarter campaign is successful and manufacturing proceeds smoothly.
The development team explain more about the inspiration behind their smart mirror. “The idea of a Smartmirror came to mind when we noticed, that mornings can get stressful very easily. Especially if you like to stay in bed for a few more minutes. It is quite difficult to read the news, look up the weather, check the train schedule and your emails in a short amount of time. But what if you could do all these things while brushing your teeth or applying makeup?”
Dimensions of the smart mirror are 55 x 55 x 3.5 cm and is equipped with a similar widget system found on modern smartphones. Each widget displays different useful information and can be configured to fit your personal needs. “Using our custom developed gesture recognition, the user is able to interact with his VERSE Smartmirror very efficiently, and more importantly fingerprint-less. Go to the next page, adjust volume and brightness or change the currently playing song using simple gestures. Since gestures are very intuitive, even children are capable of controlling the VERSE Smartmirror.”
