Samsung announced last week that they would be releasing a developer edition of the Samsung Galaxy S III on Verizon Wireless, the cost of the device is $599.99, and this was apparently being done as Verizon would not offer the bootloader unlocker tool for the handset on contract.
Now it would appear that Verizon will offer the bootloader unlock tool, as one customer of Verizon has received an email from them confirming this, you can see the Verizon email below.
My name is Levar and thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless about the boot loader for the Galaxy S3. I know this may be frustrating but there will be a solution soon coming. Samsung will be releasing a software update to unlock your device. Right now, we do not have a date for the release but it shall be soon.
Verizon Wireless appreciates you as a customer and your patience in this matter.
Have a great weekend!
The guys over at Droid Life also spoke to Verizon’s customer service and were also told a similar thing, and Samsung also replied to Android Guys and said that the tool will be made available.
