One of the biggest fears of many smartphone users is going over their data allotment and hitting those big overcharge fees. Some people never use all the data they have allotted and wish there were cheaper plans with less data. Verizon has announced a new data plan for this type of users that offers a scant 250MB of data each month.
I can only imagine the bill shock coming to some new smartphone users that don’t really understand how much data that is and how fast it can go. Stream a movie or two and 250MB could be gone. Those that want to pay as little as possible can get the new 250MB data plan for $20 per month. That makes a smartphone on the 250MB plan about $20 per month cheaper than the previous cheapest price.
AT&T has a data plan for the same money that offers 300MB of data, which is still not enough for most users. If you tend to be on WiFi most of the time when you are using a smartphone on the new Verizon plan you may be fine. Just be sure you are actually connected to WiFi before you start streaming or downloading or you will regret it.
