Google and Yubico have joined forces to create a new USB-C Titan Security Key offering USB-C connectivity to support everything other than iOS devices. The latest version of the Titan Security Key will soon be available to purchase from the Google Store priced at $40 and is compatible with Android, Chrome OS, macOS and Windows. To use Titan Security with iOS devices you will need the Lightning connection key provided by the likes of the YubiKey 5Ci.
You can also use Titan Security Keys for any site where FIDO security keys are supported for 2FA : Google Account, 1Password, Coinbase, Dropbox, Facebook, GitHub, Salesforce, Stripe, Twitter, and more. Google explained that the latest Titan Security Key features the same secure hardware elements and firmware that is used in the existing Titan Keys. Titan Security Keys help prevent phishing and keep out anyone who shouldn’t have access to your online accounts. Security keys are the same level of security used internally at Google. “Titan Security Keys are compatible with the Advanced Protection Program, Google’s strongest security offering.”
“Firmware for Titan Security Keys is engineered by Google, to verify the key’s integrity. Titan Security Key is built on FIDO open standards. Use your key to protect your sign-in on a variety of apps and online services beyond Google. USB-A/NFC and Bluetooth/NFC/USB Titan Security Keys will also become available individually. Bulk orders are available for enterprise organizations in select countries.”
