United Airlines has announced that it will equip almost 23,000 of its mainline flight attendants with an iPhone 6 Plus during the second quarter of 2015.
After the devices are introduces, flight attendants will be able to take care of most of the onboard retail transactions, as well as give them access to several resources of the company such as company email, united.com and the company’s Intranet as well as policies and procedures manuals.
“We are thrilled to make this investment in our flight attendants,” said Sam Risoli, United’s senior vice president of inflight services. “iPhone 6 Plus will enable them to deliver an even higher level of flyer-friendly service and will offer our flight attendants simple, one-touch access to valuable work information, enabling them to better serve our customers.”
The company also announced they will introduce enhancements in the future as well, which will replace flight attendants’ printed safety manual to an electronic version and will also provide real-time report on aircraft’s cabin issues and repairs. Furthermore, the company also plans to develop tools which can be used by its customers. There’s no word about the tools, but it’s definitely going to be handy for the travellers.
