Twitter has now added a new easy to enable security option for users accounts, with the addition of permanent HTTPS encryption across account connections. The https://.twitter.com security function has been available to users for sometime but many users might not have been aware of the added security they could be using.
The new option can be enabled within a users account settings and will provide encrypted communication between Twitter networks and users computers. The HTTPS security creates a secure tunnel, decreasing the chance that somebody will be able to access a user’s account information on an open Wi-Fi network.
Unfortunately mobile Twitter still doesn’t have the ability to force a secure connection through HTTPS, so if you are accessing Twitter from your mobile device you will need to make sure that your force a secure connection to Twitter by loggin on to https://mobile.twitter.com rather than http://mobile.twitter.com
