If you want to get the best out of your iPhone battery, there are a number of tips that can help you improve your iPhone battery life and make it last longer by improving its health.
Aaron from Zollotech has put together a great video which gives us some tips on how you can get the best out of your iPhone battery and also maintain the battery health.
Understanding Optimized Battery Charging
Apple recently introduced a new feature called Optimized Battery Charging that charges your device to 80% and then charges the rest just before you need to use it. This feature is designed to reduce the wear on your battery and improve its lifespan by preventing it from staying at 100% charge for too long.
This feature works out when you need to use it, for example, when you would get up in the morning, it would charge the remaining battery just before you wake up. This is particularly useful for those who charge their phones overnight, as it ensures that the battery is not kept at full charge for extended periods, which can degrade its health over time.
Additional Tips for Prolonging Battery Life
In addition to using Optimized Battery Charging, there are several other strategies you can employ to extend the life of your iPhone battery:
1. Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Your iPhone battery performs best at room temperature. Exposing it to extreme heat or cold can significantly reduce its lifespan. Try to keep your device in a moderate environment whenever possible.
2. Reduce Screen Brightness: One of the biggest drains on your battery is the screen. Lowering your screen brightness or enabling auto-brightness can help conserve battery life.
3. Use Wi-Fi When Possible: Using Wi-Fi consumes less power than cellular data. Whenever possible, connect to a Wi-Fi network to save battery.
4. Limit Background App Refresh: Many apps refresh their content in the background, which can drain your battery. You can turn off this feature for apps that you don’t need to update constantly by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
5. Enable Low Power Mode: When your battery is running low, enabling Low Power Mode can help extend its life. This mode reduces background activity and visual effects to save power. You can turn it on by going to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode.
6. Update to the Latest Software: Apple frequently releases updates that include improvements to battery performance. Keeping your iPhone updated ensures that you have the latest optimizations.
7. Manage Location Services: Apps that use location services can be a significant drain on your battery. You can manage which apps have access to your location by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
8. Turn Off Push Email: If you have multiple email accounts set to push, your iPhone will constantly check for new emails, which can drain the battery. Setting your email to fetch at longer intervals or manually can help save power.
By following these tips and utilizing features like Optimized Battery Charging, you can significantly improve your iPhone’s battery life and maintain its health over time.
