Anyone looking for a new mode of transport to get them around their local city or the last mile to work, may be interested in a new one wheeled vehicle called the Urban Glider which has been designed by Austin Marhold.
The Urban Glider has been designed to be controlled using your centre of gravity and to turn the one wheeled vehicle you simply lean your body in the direction you would like to travel. Check out the video after the jump to learn more.
The Urban Glider project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise $75,000 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production. The project is already over halfway to achieving this thanks to 45 backers, with still 27 days left to run. Its creators explains a little more :
“Our vision behind Urban Gliders is to open a way of exploration in your world that is so natural you will never think of going back. You simply lean your body in the direction you want to go and the glider reacts to the change in your center of gravity.
While you are gliding forward, all you have to do is shift your weight; leaning back a bit; and you will slow down, if you continuing lean back the glider will reverse.Twisting controls turning.”
Features of the Urban Glider include a Dynamic Stabilisation System that refreshes hundreds of times a second to keep you balanced, together with power delivered using a high-torque DC stepper motor and only has one moving part to reduce the chances of failure and provide a long lifespan.
So if you think Urban Glider is something you could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge starting from $999 and up to help the Urban Glider become a reality.
