We mentioned this morning that Microsoft had announced it was increasing production for its Surface RT tablet and rolling the unit out to other retail sellers. When Microsoft made the official announcement, it didn’t announce any of the official retail carriers in the United States. We’ve now learned that Staples will be one of the companies offering the Surface RT tablet.
Surface RT tablets will be available in Staples locations around the country starting on December 12. Staples is one of the biggest partners for Microsoft with the Surface RT push and is notable as the world’s largest office products company.
If you’re somehow unfamiliar with the Surface RT tablet, the device is a thin tablet weighing 1.5 pounds with an optional keyboard attachment. It has front and rear 720p HD cameras and a lot more. Staples will sell the 32 GB tablet for $499 without the keyboard touch cover. The 32 GB version with the keyboard cover will sell for $599 and 64 GB version with touch cover will cost $699.
