Spotify is edging ever closer to breaking into the US music market after years of trying to secure a deal that will allow them to enter the US market, which is currently dominated by Apple’s iTunes service.
Only last month Spotify announced details that it was signing a US deal with Sony which would help launch the Spotify service stateside.
In testement to the Spotify edging closer to a US launched the company fired off an email to thousands of US customers saying:
We are really looking forward to launching the service in full in the USA over the coming months, and hope that you will continue to use the service and be one of our key advocates.
With two of the big four already signed up (Sony & Warner Music) Spotify now only needs EMI and Universal on board to make certain of a successful US launch in the coming months, and as a huge fan of Spotify it would be great to see them expand into the US and see them give Apple a run for their money. After all competition is always a good thing for consumers.
