In fact, to cal it a ‘smartphone’ is a bit of a misnomer. But it’s not a dumbphone either and it’s simple capabilities almost skirt the very definition of what a phone really is. Pictured below is a snazzy tracking device geared for the senior citizens and young tykes in case something bad happens.

Its functions are so simple it would be a total surprise if this still came with a manual. However, please don’t mistake it for an mp3 player, even if it suspiciously resembles one. See that large attractive button at the center? When you’re in an emergency and need assistance ASAP, a mere press would send an email and a notification to your relatives/loved ones informing them where you are.
The ring at the top is pretty neat as well. If you wish to be tracked, just pull the cord and a sound is emitted, aiding the responder in, well, reaching you.
As mentioned, this phone is being marketed to the elderly and very young, which is sensible considering the overwhelming demographic trend that indicates Japan’s population will rapidly gray in the next decade or so.
