This week Slingplayer has released a new update that’s now allows SlingPlayer Mobile to now offer high quality video streaming when used with newer Slingboxes and higher bandwidth connections.
There are also a few other requirements you also need to make sure you can receive these higher quality feeds. Firstly you need to make sure you have either a Slingbox SOLO or a Slingbox PRO-HD and that the latest software is installed on your Slingbox, 2.1.110 for SOLO and 2.1.80 for PRO-HD.
Once all that is checked the final thing to remember is that you will need a connection while away from your home base of at least 800Kbps. You can check this within SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone and iPod touch, by tapping the SQ button, then the Options button, your current bandwidth will display in the lower left corner of your screen.
If you currently have an older Sling box and are thinking of upgrading Sling Media offers a $50 – $150 discount off of a Slingbox SOLO or a Slingbox PRO-HD when you use the Special Upgrade Program.
