Skype has just rolled out a new update to its software on iOS devices which has been designed to expand the video calling compatibility of all iOS devices. Increasing the range of Skype clients and devices your can now connect to by adding the h.264 compatibility necessary to chat with any Skype TV client software.
The Skype TV feature is available on a number of TV sets, manufactured by LG, Samsung and Panasonic with announcements from Sony and Vizio stating they will also be launching Skype TV features on their new HDTV’s later this year.
The new feature is hoped to give Skype and edge over its ‘in the lounge’ competitors with videochat setups from Cisco, Logitech or Microsoft’s Kinect. However you will require a compatible web camera fitted to the HDTV your trying to connect to from your iOS device.
