Any parent out there will tell you that having a newborn infant is a nerve-racking experience. You would think things are easiest when they are asleep, but your new parent mind plays tricks on you and you keep thinking the baby might not be breathing and waking up in the middle of the night.
Another thing that docs like to scare the crap out of new parents with is SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome. This is a real medical issue when’re a baby sometimes just stops breathing. A company called Exmovere has unveiled a sensor-laden set of PJs for baby called Exmobaby that is designed to help parents rest knowing the baby is fine and help mom and dad monitor kids that might be at risk for SIDS.
The PJs have sensors that are placed to monitor the heart rate and emotional state of the baby along with behavior. The sensors use Zigbee wireless protocols to communicate with some sort of monitor. If the heart rate drops or stops the parents will know and can hopefully save the child.
