The latest gadget to go under the screwdriver in an iFixit teardown is Samsung latest wearable device, the Samsung Gear 2, which recently went on sale.
The Samsung Gear 2 comes with a 1.63 inch Super AMOLED display that features a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, the device is equipped with a 2 megapixel camera, 4GB of storage and a 300 mAh battery.
So how well did the Samsung Gear 2 perform in the iFixit Teardown? The iFixit guys gave it a repairability score of 8 out of 10, with 10 being the easiest to repair, and they noted the following points about the device.
The watch band is super easy to remove, speeding replacements and upgrades.
Screws, clips, and spring contacts make up the trifecta of easy opening. Getting in through the rear case is a snap.
Once you’re inside, the battery can be peeled out and replaced with no tools.
A fused display assembly, glued into the front of the device, makes replacement a little difficult and costly.
Considering the size of the Samsung Gear 2 compared to other devices, we would have though that the device would have been harder to repair than it actually was.
