The new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 went on sale in the US and a number of other countries last Friday, and now the team from iFixit has taken the handset apart to give us a detailed look at its internals.

As we can see from the video, the handset is not one of the easiest devices to repair. iFixit scores devices on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is very difficult to repair and 10 is easy to repair. The new Note 9 only managed a score of 4, which means that the handset is fairly difficult to fix.
Challenges in Repairing the Galaxy Note 9
One of the primary challenges in repairing the Galaxy Note 9 is its use of strong adhesives, which makes opening the device a tricky task. The back panel is glued down firmly, requiring heat and specialized tools to remove without causing damage. Additionally, the internal components are densely packed, which complicates the disassembly process.
Another significant hurdle is the battery replacement. The battery is glued in place, making it difficult to remove without risking damage to the surrounding components. This is a critical point of concern for users who may need to replace the battery after a few years of use.

Despite the repair challenges, the Galaxy Note 9 boasts several impressive features and innovations. It comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, offering vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it one of the best screens available on a smartphone. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in the US and the Exynos 9810 in other regions, ensuring top-notch performance.
The Note 9 also includes an upgraded S Pen, which now features Bluetooth connectivity. This allows users to control various functions of the phone remotely, such as taking photos, controlling presentations, and more. The S Pen charges quickly when inserted into the phone, providing convenience and extended functionality.
The camera system on the Note 9 is another highlight. It features a dual-camera setup with a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens, both equipped with optical image stabilization. The camera software includes AI enhancements that automatically adjust settings for optimal photo quality.
