The majority of smartphones and tablets that come with 128GB of built ins storage are high end devices like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Apple iPhone 6.
Samsung is looking to change this with the launch of its new 128GB NAND Flash storage which is aimed at more than just high end devices, and we can expected to see a range of mid range devices with the new 128GB chips.
“With the introduction of our value-focused, 3-bit NAND-based eMMC 5.0 line-up, we expect to take the lead in the expansion of high-density mobile storage,” said Dr. Jung-Bae Lee, Senior Vice President of Memory Product Planning and Application Engineering Team, Samsung Electronics. “We are continuing to enhance our next-generation embedded mobile memory offerings with improved performance and higher densities to meet increasing customer demand across the mobile industry.”
This is good news for people who dont want to buy the high end smartphones but want the extra storage, we should see some new mid range handsets with 128GB built in over the next few months.
