MapMyIndia is the leading navigation company in India that has been responsible for numerous location-based Windows Phones apps. Recently they released ReachMe, a location sharing app that allows users to tell the contacts they label as trusted where they are through the use of a link or PIN. The app is currently region-locked in India, but is an interesting concept that should soon be available in countries worldwide through various other apps that are sure to follow.
On top of showing your friends were you are, it gives them directions for how to reach you. They can also use the ‘follow me’ feature to track you in real time, making it easy for you to link up with your friends in real life without having to stop to wait for them.
It’s a useful app that solves a specific problem most of us face at least a few times a year. Ever been out with friends and gotten separated? Or had to text a ton and kill a bunch of time trying to figure out the best way to meet up? With an app like this, those problems would be much easier to solve. Still not sure it’d help when you’re drunk though.
