QNAP has this week introduced their new TBS-453DX NAS Book equipped with four M.2-2280 slots, specifications available include TBS-453DX-4G: 4 GB DDR4 RAM (2 x 2 GB), upgradable to 8 GB and TBS-453DX-8G: 8 GB DDR4 RAM (2 x 4 GB).
The QNAP TBS-453DX NAS Book is powered by an Intel Celeron J4105 quad-core 1.5 GHz processor (burst up to 2.5 GHz) with 4 GB/ 8 GB DDR4 memory Although you will need to supply your chosen SSD drive separately. Designed to be used with the new QNAP Cloud Gateway service but will be launching during Q1 2019 the combination provides a seamless cloud storage solution.
“With QNAP’s new Cloud Gateway service (including the file-level gateway “CacheMount” and the block-level gateway “VJBOD Cloud”), users can mount over 20 cloud storage services for seamless file storage, backup, and recovery. By enabling caching for CacheMount and VJBOD Cloud, files on the cloud can be locally cached in TBS-453DX’s CacheMount Cache Volume, and users can reach frequently-accessed files with the lowest latency and work with them as they were stored on the NAS. Users can further utilize SSD extra over-provisioning (OP) to allocate SSD additional OP space (from 1% to 60%) for optimized SSD random write speeds and lifespan, enjoying faster file backups and smoother multimedia experiences.”
The TBS-453DX supports media playback on a TV/monitor via HDMI 2.0 output (up to 4K @60Hz) and converts 4K videos to universal file formats that can be smoothly played on multiple devices. For more details, pricing and availability jump over to the official QNAP website.
