Sony PlayStation Vita handle console users that enjoy using the PS Vita YouTube and Maps app on the pocket games console might be disappointed to learn today, that Sony has announced support for the two applications on the PS Vita will soon be coming to an end.
Sony explains over on the PlayStation website that the PS Vita YouTube application will no longer be supported after April 20th 2015 and has stopped being available for download from the PlayStation Store from today.
Sony does point out though that PS Vita users can continue to enjoy YouTube movies via the PS Vita Browser application that provides access to users YouTube playlists and channels, by signing in to your Google account.
Sony also announced today that all features of the PS Vita Maps application and some features of the near application will also be disabled within the software update planned to be released later this year in March, 2015. Sony explains :
“Functionalities of the applications will be removed automatically once users update their PlayStation Vita. The disablement of features will not affect gameplay.”
