We are waiting for the new OnePlus 6 smartphone to launch and now OnePlus has released a software update for their OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphone. Both handsets are getting the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Android Oreo update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T comes in the for of OxygenOS 5.1.0 and the update had been released as an over the air update. The update also comes with Google’s Security patch for Android for the month of April.
Here is a list of what is included in the OxygenOS 5.1.0 update:
System
- Updated system to Android™ 8.1 Oreo™
- Updated Android security patch to 2018-04
- Added full-screen gesture support (Only 5T)
Gaming mode
- Added new optimizations in gaming mode including power saving and pausing adaptive brightness
Launcher
- Added category tags in the search section of the app drawer
- Auto name folders based on category
The new Android 8.1 Oreo update is now available for both OnePlus 5 handsets. You can download the handset from the settings menu. It could take a couple of days for the update to reach you as OnePlus has said that the release of the update is incremental.
