If you were hoping to purchase the new Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and blast your way through, Doom 3 BFG edition in glorious virtual reality, as promised by the Oculus Rift development team during their Kickstarter campaign.
You are going to be disappointed to discover that they have announced this week on Kickstarter website that no support for the Doom 3 BFG game edition will be included with the Oculus Rift when it launches later this year or in the impending Oculus Rift development kits.
However the Oculus Rift development team has created a number of new options to help you ease the pain, which include: A $20 Steam Wallet credit, or a a $25 Oculus Store credit allowing you to purchase Oculus Rift accessories and merchandise. Or if those do not suit you can ask for a full refund on your Oculus Rift pledge if desired.
“When we launched the Kickstarter campaign, we said we’d bundle a copy of DOOM 3 BFG Edition with each development kit as an extra “Thank you.” Unfortunately, we’ve been informed that DOOM 3 BFG Edition will not support the Rift development kit by the time we begin shipping. Since DOOM 3 won’t be available, we’d like to try and make it up to you.”
The first Oculus Rift developer kits are expected to start shipping in the next few weeks, and consumer Oculus Rift kits launch to the public later this year if all goes smoothly. Check out the video below to learn more about the new Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
