iTunes Radio has mainly been about music since it launched last year, although now it will also get a news station from NPR.
National Public Radio (NPR) will bring the first news station to Apple’s iTunes Radio, and it will be available 24 hours a day with live shows.
Digital streams of Morning Edition, All Things Considered and hourly newscasts will be available on a new 24-hour streaming NPR station on iTunes Radio.
“What you hear today is just the start of what’s to come,” said Zach Brand, NPR’s vice president of digital media. Later this spring, the station will expand to include streams of our member stations from across the country.
We suspect that Apple may have further plans to add more stations to iTunes Radio that bring more than just music to the streaming service.
You can find out more details about NPR on iTunes Radio over at the NPR website, the service is live in the US on iTunes Radio.
