Nokia’s new flagship Windows phone smartphone will go on sale in the UK from the 16th of November, as Nokia has just confirmed that this is the official launch date for the UK for the new Nokia Lumia 800.
The Nokia Lumia 800 comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display, and it is powered by a 1.4GHz single core processor with hardware acceleration and a graphics processor, plus an 8 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens.
The Nokia Lumia 800 also comes with 16GB of built in storage plus 25GB of online storage with SkyDrive, and it will retail for 420 Euros excluding taxes, unfortunately Nokia hasn’t released the exact pricing for the UK as yet.
Design and Display
The design of the Nokia Lumia 800 is sleek and modern, featuring a unibody polycarbonate shell that not only looks good but also feels sturdy in the hand. The 3.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display offers vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for media consumption and outdoor visibility. The curved glass seamlessly blends into the body, giving it a premium feel that is often missing in other smartphones in this price range.
Performance and Camera
Under the hood, the Lumia 800 is powered by a 1.4GHz single-core processor, which, while not the most powerful by today’s standards, is more than capable of handling everyday tasks with ease. The hardware acceleration and dedicated graphics processor ensure smooth performance, whether you’re browsing the web, playing games, or multitasking between apps.
The 8 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens is one of the standout features of the Lumia 800. It offers excellent photo quality, even in low-light conditions, thanks to its f/2.2 aperture. The camera also supports 720p HD video recording, making it a versatile tool for capturing both photos and videos. The inclusion of a dual-LED flash ensures that your photos are well-lit, even in darker environments.
The Nokia Lumia 800 also comes with 16GB of built-in storage, which should be sufficient for most users. However, if you find yourself needing more space, the 25GB of online storage with SkyDrive offers a convenient solution for storing your photos, videos, and documents in the cloud.
Software and User Experience
The Lumia 800 runs on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, which offers a unique and intuitive user experience. The Live Tiles on the home screen provide real-time updates, making it easy to stay on top of your notifications, calendar events, and social media feeds. The integration with Microsoft services like Office, Outlook, and SkyDrive makes it an excellent choice for business users as well.
One of the key selling points of the Lumia 800 is its seamless integration with Nokia’s suite of apps, including Nokia Drive for turn-by-turn navigation and Nokia Music for streaming music. These apps add significant value to the overall package, making the Lumia 800 more than just a smartphone.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life is another area where the Lumia 800 excels. The 1450mAh battery offers up to 13 hours of talk time and up to 265 hours of standby time, ensuring that you can go through your day without constantly worrying about recharging. The device also supports a range of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, making it a versatile companion for both work and play.
