Nokia recently launched their first Windows Phone smartphone in the US, the Nokia Lumia 710, and the device has been available with mobile carrier T-Mobile for $49.99 when you sign up to a new two year contract with the carrier.

The device hasn’t been available for very long in the US, and it scheduled to launch in the UK next month, now one US retailer has already decided to drop the price of the device and is giving it away free when you sign up to a new two year contract with T-Mobile.

US retailer Wal-Mart is now offering the Nokia Lumia 710 for free on T-Mobile, and a number of reports are claiming that the price has been dropped as sales of the handset haven’t been as good as expected.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is designed to be a budget Windows Phone device, and it comes with the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile OS, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

Other specifications on the Nokia Lumia 710 include a 3.7 inch WVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, processing is provided by a single core 1.4GHz processor and it also comes with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of built in storage.

The Nokia Lumia 710 also features a 5 megapixel camera which can record HD video in 720 at 30 fps, the camera comes with an LED flash and the device also features Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, WiFi, a microUSB port and a 1,300 mAh battery.
