Nintendo has announced that it is now sold more than 30 million Wii consoles in the US, it took Nintendo just forty five months to reach this milestone, and they are now claiming that it is the fastest selling games console ever.
Nintendo have sold more than 73 million Wii’s worldwide, and it means that if sales keep up at this pace the Wii could end up being the best selling video game console ever.
Sony’s Playstation 2 currently holds the title of the best selling video games console ever sold, with a massive 140 million units sold, so Nintendo still has some work to do to beat the PS2.
We heard earlier that Nintendo may be launching a new version of the Wii sometime next year, so they may not end up beating the PS2 as sales of the new console wouldn’t count towards the figure.
